Prado education activities
The ‘Portrait of Spain’ exhibition was the largest international loan the Museo Nacional del Prado had ever offered a museum in the Southern Hemisphere. The artworks span over three and a half centuries of European painting showcasing landscapes, portraits, still-lifes, religious scenes and nudes.
To engage school children with the exhibition, QAGOMA produced an education activity pack for primary and secondary students. The resource focuses on the themes in selected artworks, including questions for different age groups and removable postcards on the back page of the booklet. The pack also includes notes for their teachers and curriculum information.
There was a struggle between content and page count on this project, it was a challenge to include the required information and images while adhering to budget constraints. The desired outcome was achieved through discussions with the client; this allowed content to be trimmed, and the separation of elements using colour rather than space.
